Technical Writing

These are a small sampling of projects I’ve worked on. I have previously done ghost writing, blogging, fiction, and author biographies as well as a variety of communication projects.

Softrock Employee Manual
The media department was growing–fast. We were perfecting out product and training new employees constantly. With so much information to keep track of, there were a lot of questions. I took the lead in developing a manual that gave new employees a map to their position and existing employees a reference for common questions.

E. Bo Young New Teacher Guide *awaiting employer approval to post document
Teaching in Korea is challenging. New environment, new culture, new language…and a completely different work environment than most are accustomed to in their home countries. After training three new teachers and endless email forwarding each month for the same, routine tasks, I knew there had to be a better way. I complied the general school information along with instructions on how to utilize the Google Drive database I created to house reusable files. No more reinventing the wheel and no more combing through emails or asking the same question multiple times.

Lesson Plans
While it was not required, I found that creating written lesson plans for curriculum materials and personally developed lessons brought a greater sense of organization to classes and gave structure to the time. In an environment where the curriculum repeats as students level out, it saves time to have a prepared  plans that can be used for new teachers, substitutes, and seasoned teachers short on time.

Resumes
For many people, it’s hard to talk about themselves or find the perfect way to express who they are. It’s not always easy to see yourself the way others see you and it’s even harder to boast about your accomplishments without sounding arrogant. I have helped many people take their resumes from generic templates to an accurate expression of accomplishment that grabs attention and gets interviews.

Sam was looking to create a new resume and cover letter from scratch. He was looking for new positions within the same industry, but in a new capacity and hadn’t updated his resume in years. After he told me about his prior positions and what his goals were, we tailored a resume to fit his needs.
Chris was having trouble finding a new position in his field. He was sending out resumes but being passed over. After a rework of his accomplishments and skills, he landed not only an interview, but a job offer the very next week.
James was changing careers. After 10 years in the US Army, he was returning to civilian life. He had a resume made with the exit courses provided by the army, but he wasn’t happy with it. After a few Skype sessions and a LOT of digging down to his duties to take what he considered routine and translate it into legitimate experience, he had a resume that a professional resume service could find no fault with.
